Today in the German capital a summit of the countries of the so-called Berlin trial, which will be attended by representatives of the six countries of the Western Balkans, as well as the European Union, BTA reported.

The Berlin Process for the Western Balkans was launched in 2014 at the initiative of Germany and aims to support and deepen the economic integration of the six countries of the Western Balkans (Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Albania, the Republic of North Macedonia) and the convergence of the region with EU values and socio-economic standards. The initiative provides high-level political support and broad reach and visibility to regional cooperation initiatives and related policies, as well as to EU connectivity projects in the region.

Participants in the meeting are traditionally the six countries of the Western Balkans, their supporting countries Austria, France, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Great Britain, Poland, and from 2019 also Greece and Bulgaria, as well as the rotating presidency of the Council of the EU, The Council for Regional Cooperation, CEFTA and the Regional Youth Office (RYCO). Acting Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev to represent Bulgaria today.

The first meeting within the so-called Berlin Process was held on August 28, 2014 at the initiative of the then German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
