France demands the immediate release of three of its citizens held in Iran - 1

France's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said today that the conditions in which three its citizens are being held hostage in Iran, are unacceptable and that Paris will continue to work for their immediate release, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jean-Noel Barot, met today with the families of the three French citizens, announced the deputy spokesman of the ministry, Pascal Confavreau. He added that the French are **"behaving like hostages"**.

In recent years, Iran's Revolutionary Guards have arrested dozens of dual nationals and foreigners, mostly on espionage and security-related charges.

Human rights groups accuse Iran of using such arrests to extract concessions from other countries. Iran, which does not recognize dual citizenship, denies holding prisoners for diplomatic gain.
