China is not trying and does not plan to interferes in the US presidential election and also opposes cyber attacks in any form. This was stated to TASS by an official representative of the Chinese embassy in Washington.

"We are not familiar with the specific situation. We cannot comment on that”, he replied to a request for comment on the claims of the American newspaper The New York Times. Earlier, the publication, citing its sources, outlined a version according to which Chinese hackers tried to gain unauthorized access to the phones of the US presidential candidate Donald Trump and his deputy in the election race, James David Vance.

"In general, China is one of the main victims of cyber attacks. China's position is consistent and clear. China resolutely opposes and fights against cyber-attacks and cyber-theft in any form, a representative of the Chinese embassy stressed. - Presidential elections are an internal matter of the USA. China does not and will not interfere in US elections. We hope that the US side will not make accusations against China during the election.”

„In recent years, the United States has collected and disseminated a wide variety of disinformation about so-called Chinese hacking threats. These accusations are full of malicious speculation directed at China. China resolutely opposes them”, the embassy said.

„The United States itself is the source and largest perpetrator of cyberattacks,” he noted, commenting on a statement by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Agency. U.S. authorities are said to be investigating hackers allegedly linked to China who gained access to telecommunications infrastructure in the United States.

According to him, the US command "openly states that the critical infrastructure of other countries is a legitimate target" about US cyberattacks. “Chinese cybersecurity institutes have published a number of reports on cyberattacks by US authorities against China and other countries. However, the US government did not explain or clarify anything, the embassy representative stressed. “We call on the United States to stop cyber espionage and cyber attacks around the world and to stop vilifying other countries under the pretext of cybersecurity.“

The next general election in the United States will be held on November 5. Trump and Democrat Kamala Harris will fight for the presidency. Trump was the 45th US president, ruling the country from 2017 to 2021.
