Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson expressed support for Georgia after President Salome Zurabishvili called for people to take to the streets, accusing Vladimir Putin of "stolen" elections in the country, reports Focus.

Zourabishvili said her compatriots were "victims of a Russian special operation” in which the Moscow-friendly government "falsified” vote, writes The Daily Mail.

She refused to recognize the result and called on her supporters to riot on Monday, saying: "It was a total manipulation, a total robbery of your votes.

Johnson, who was instrumental in persuading Ukraine to enter full-scale conflict with Russia and not bow to Moscow's demands, attacked the ruling Georgian Dream party. – with a billionaire oligarch leader who made his fortune in Russia – for "doing Moscow's dirty work".

"The picture emerging from Georgia is clear – "Yesterday's election was stolen by Putin's puppet government in Tbilisi," Johnson said. "I support the people of Georgia who stand up for their freedom, rights and future.“
