Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, who is visiting Georgia, said that the parliamentary elections won by the ruling party "Georgian Dream" were free and democratic. In Tbilisi, Orban congratulated Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and emphasized his efforts for peace in Ukraine, quoted by BTA.
Despite Orbán's positive assessment, thousands of demonstrators gathered outside the parliament in Tbilisi after reports emerged of irregularities in the election process. Western powers have called for an investigation into the election. Orbán added that he had read the opinion of the Hungarian observers who confirmed the legitimacy of the vote.
