The Secretary of State of the US state of Georgia, Brad Raffensperger, announced today that a video has been circulated in the state with a "obviously false" information possibly created by Russian trolls "trying to sow discord and chaos in the run-up to the presidential election" of the USA on Tuesday, the Associated Press reported, as quoted by BTA.
The video published on the social platform "X" yesterday afternoon, featuring a man claiming to be a Haitian immigrant holding an armful of Georgia ID cards. He claims he will vote multiple times with them in two districts. "This video is false and is an example of the kind of targeted disinformation we are seeing in this election," Raffensperger said, as quoted by the AP.
The US Agency for Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security (CIAS) has announced that it has launched an investigation into the footage. An AP review of the information on two of the ID cards showed that they did not match the information of any registered voter in the Georgia counties. Although the video this morning can no longer be found in its original form on the "X" platform, users continue to share copies of the clip en masse.
The candidates of the Democratic and Republican parties for the presidency of the United States - the current vice president Kamala Harris and the former president Donald Trump - continue today with their pre-election activities, organizing rallies not far from each other in Milwaukee, the largest population in the state of Wisconsin.
