A student at an Iranian university stripped to her underwear in protest against strict requirements of the authorities to women's clothing, BNR reported.
The young woman has been arrested, her fate is still unknown.
A video published on social networks shows how security guards of the branch of the Islamic University "Azad" in Tehran, detained the young woman. Iran's Fars news agency confirmed the incident, posting a heavily blurred photo. According to the agency, the young woman was wearing "inappropriate clothes" on the hour and undressed after being warned by security to comply with the female dress code.
The publication denies information on social networks that she was beaten during detention.
The spokesperson of the educational institution wrote on the "X" platform that it was found at the police station that the woman was under great mental pressure and had a mental disorder. But users of social networks suggest that her actions are a deliberate protest against the requirement to wear the hijab, notes France Presse.
There is still no information about the fate of the young woman. A local daily reported that she will most likely be transferred to a psychiatric hospital after an investigation.
Iranian women have spoken out against the mandatory wearing of the hijab during the unprecedented protests that have erupted in the country since the death of Mahsa Amini in 2022, who was arrested for her inappropriate clothing.
