Over the past three years, the “Safety for Journalists” (SafeJournalists Network - SJN) registered 633 attacks on journalists in the Western Balkans region, of which only 49 were resolved in court, HINA reported, quoted by BTA.
The organization urged journalists to report similar cases to the competent authorities.
„Although only a small number of cases have been legally resolved in the past period, journalists should not be discouraged and should continue to report all kinds of attacks to the competent institutions and journalistic associations,”, SJN said in a statement , released on Saturday to mark the International Day Against Impunity for Crimes Against Journalists – November 2.
The SJN network was established in 2015 in response to the continuing deterioration of the safety of journalists and media freedom in the Western Balkans, as an expression of the need for greater solidarity within the media community in the region.
