A gang stole electronic devices including smartphones and tablets worth more than 1 million euros during an armed robbery at a warehouse for courier services in Italy, reported DPA, quoted by BTA.
Italian media reported that the thieves followed a plan that involved blocking the entrances to the site near the northern Italian city of Piacenza with stolen vans, which they then set on fire.
According to the information, the gang was divided into three groups. One entered the facility and threatened the security guards, the other set the buses, which were later set on fire, and the third group scattered nails around the facility.
Although the police responded quickly, they were unable to enter the premises, allowing the thieves to take the goods undisturbed.
The perpetrators, probably around 15 people, managed to escape and headed for the nearby highway in the direction of Cremona in the Lombardy region.
There are currently no reports of casualties, although the security guards are said to be in shock.
