US President Joe Biden will attend the G20 summit -20 in Brazil later in the month, his spokeswoman confirmed, BTA reported.
He will also tour the Amazon forests, where he will talk about climate change.
„Biden planned to attend both summits” - the one that will bring together the countries of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation in Lima, Peru, in mid-November, and the one that will bring together the leaders of the twenty largest economic powers in Rio de Janeiro on November 18 and 19, Karin said Jean-Pierre.
After leaving Peru for Brazil, the Democratic president will stop in Manaus (in northeastern Brazil) to “visit the Amazon forest and speak with local leaders, indigenous peoples and others working to preserve and protect of this extremely important ecosystem”, the spokeswoman announced.
She pointed out that this is the first such trip by an American president.
In Rio, Joe Biden will hold talks with his Brazilian counterpart Lula and will “play a leading role in encouraging the G20 to work together to tackle global challenges such as hunger, poverty, climate change, health and the debt burden of developing countries“.
Many leaders of US allies from the G20 and other formats did not even wait for Donald Trump's presidential victory to be officially announced to congratulate him, and the 78-year-old Republican says he has already spoken to dozens of state and heads of government.
