Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will address the European Parliament today on the occasion of the 1000 days from the beginning of the Russian military attack against his country, BTA reported.
The President of the EP, Roberta Mezzola, called an extraordinary meeting of the MEPs for today, and it is planned that the address of the Ukrainian president will be heard in a video message.
Mezzola is also expected to make a statement, and then the positions of the individual political groups in the EP will be presented. Since Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, the EU and the EP have strongly supported the country by condemning Russian actions, imposing sanctions and increasing their political, humanitarian, military and financial assistance to Kyiv, the institution said in a statement. The EP supports the accession of Ukraine to the EU.
The majority in the EP insists that Russia compensate Ukraine financially for the damage caused. The EP adopted a call for the seized funds of the Russian state to be used for this purpose, the announcement states.
