The US decision to supply anti-personnel mines to Ukraine represents a violation of the balance of power, said the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Belarus and First Deputy Minister of Defense Pavel Muraveyko, quoted by the Belarusian news agency BelTA, quoted by BTA.
„There is a system of checks and balances in the world. It included a ban on the use of anti-personnel mines in modern conflicts. The decision to supply such mines to Ukraine is a violation of the balance of power, an escalation of the means of defeat. We have to take this into account because no one gives a guarantee that such weapons will not be used against us, he pointed out.
Muravejko emphasized that the rise in tension is related to a series of “irresponsible decisions”. Among them, he pointed out the sending of Ukrainian and international mercenaries to the Kursk region, the authorization of the use of long-range systems for attacks on Russian territory, as well as the supply of anti-personnel mines to Kiev.
„We cannot ignore these factors, because they seriously affect the security of Belarus and the Eastern European collective security region as a whole,” Muravejko stressed.
