Specialists from the State Center for Flight Tests "Chkalov" to the Ministry of Defense of Russia set an absolute record by jumping with "Long-range" parachutes. from a height of 10 km, covering covering 80 km, reported "Rostech".
The paratroopers parachuted from an An-72 aircraft at a speed of 350 km/h. at a temperature of minus 57 degrees Celsius.
Special purpose parachute system "Long range" is intended for training and combat jumps, which can be performed with equipment, incl. oxygen, and cargo. The maximum flight weight of the system is 190 kg. As Rostec clarified,
The system has already received the right to mass production. According to the tactical and technical characteristics "Long-range" it can be used when landing from a height of up to 8 thousand meters. Conducted special flight tests made it possible to increase this figure to 10 thousand meters, and the system became the first to be used for a jump from the stratosphere. During the tests, when landing with a 50 kg container, the parachutists traveled more than 40 km, and without additional cargo in favorable weather conditions and headwind - more than 80 km, the state corporation added.
Rostech Executive Director Oleg Yevtushenko noted that "the Dalnolet parachute system" has unique qualities and characteristics that are achieved through special technologies and materials.” “All of them are completely domestic, produced by the Rostech parachute cluster. Already at the stage of product development, our specialists implement design solutions that allow us to expand the tactical-technical characteristics and modernize the systems, said Yevtushenko.
