By 7:00 p.m. local (and Bulgarian) time, the voter turnout in the parliamentary elections in Romania was 49.09%. This could turn out to be the highest activity in the last 20 years, Digi24 and HotNews report. By comparison, in the 2020 election. the activity at the same time was 29.65%, and in 2016 – 36.94% quoted by BTA.
Voting in the country and abroad
According to data from the Permanent Electoral Authority, 8,841,072 Romanians have already voted for parliament, of which 663,814 voted abroad. The most active of the diaspora are the Romanians in Italy.
