The Democratic Party "Toburo" ;, which controls the majority in the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, intends to vote on the motion to impeach the president on December 7, reported Yonhap.
„It was decided to hold an impeachment vote on December 7 at around 7 p.m., the party said. If the initiative is approved, the case will be considered by the Constitutional Court.
The impeachment motion was presented at a plenary session after midnight on December 5 local time. Statutory rules require voting to take place no earlier than 24 hours and no later than 72 hours after the plenary session.
On the evening of December 3, the President of the Republic of Korea, Yoon Seok-yeol, suddenly imposed martial law to fight the “pro-North Korean elements”. It was canceled about six hours later. The opposition began impeachment proceedings on December 4, arguing that Yoon Seok-yeol violated the constitution because there was no reason for martial law.
