Special forces of the police managed to push the protesters from Rustaveli Boulevard in Tbilisi, who came out for the ninth night in a row.

With the help of water cannons, the special forces managed to force the protesters away first from the Parliament of Georgia, and then from Rustaveli Boulevard, where the legislative body is located.

On Revaz Logidze Street, about a thousand demonstrators went down to the embankment of the Kura River, where they continued to march along the neighboring streets. Drivers tried not to hit them, some greeted the demonstrators with horns.

Only the police remained on Rustaveli Boulevard.

Several thousand people gathered last night in front of the parliament, with the most active kicking its metal fence, throwing stones and firecrackers at the police, and shooting fireworks.

The series of protests began on November 28 after Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze announced the decision to suspend the start of negotiations for Georgia's EU membership until 2028. The protesters threw stones, bottles, including incendiary mixtures, and firecrackers at the parliament building, and on the night of December 1 they started a fire there. Security forces responded by using special equipment - water cannons and tear gas.

Mass protests in Georgia continue more than a month after parliamentary elections on October 26. They were won by the ruling party "Georgian Dream", which received 53.93 percent of the votes.
Four opposition parties also entered parliament, but they said they would not recognize the election results and called on their supporters to protest. President Salome Zurabishvili, who helps the pro-European opposition, also called for demonstrations.
