Qatar, acting as a mediator to resolve various crisis situations in the world, does not impose on conflicting parties certain options for resolving disputes. This was stated by the head of the government, the minister of foreign affairs of the emirate, Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani.
„Qatar is a meeting platform between different countries, where we organize everyone, not only so that they can sit at the table, but also to make sure that they continue to interact with each other. But we should not impose any decisions on them,” said the Prime Minister, speaking at the forum in Doha.
Speaking of the fact that some politicians criticize Qatar for hosting the political offices of the Palestinian movement Hamas and the Afghan radical Taliban movement. (banned in the Russian Federation), the Prime Minister noted that “non-state actors are becoming major players, the main factor of instability in this region”. He emphasized that Qatar is working with them to resolve conflicts in the Middle East.
The Doha Forum is an international conference that takes place in the capital of Qatar on December 7-8. Forum participants discuss a wide range of issues related to international security, energy transition and sustainable economic development. On the sidelines of the conference, a meeting will be held in the Astana format to settle Syria with the participation of the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, the Foreign Ministers of Iran and Turkey Abbas Araghchi and Hakan Fidan. Qatar is not participating in the Astana process and is the only country in the world where the Syrian embassy is run by representatives of the opposition.
