US President-elect Donald Trump said that Ukraine would like to make a deal with Russia to resolve the conflict and called for an immediate ceasefire and the start of peace talks. He published the corresponding entry on the social network Truth Social.
„Zelensky and Ukraine would like to conclude a peace agreement with the Russian Federation and stop the madness. There is an urgent need for a ceasefire and negotiations to begin,” the Republican wrote, opining that “China can help” in the negotiation process.
At the same time, Trump added that otherwise the Ukrainian crisis “could develop into something much bigger and much worse”.
The former US president-elect arrived in France, where he met with its president Emmanuel Macron and Vladimir Zelensky. Their three-way talks ended after 20 minutes without a joint final statement. At the same time, the American portal Axios wrote, citing sources, that Trump initially did not intend to meet with Zelensky in Paris, but Macron convinced him of the need for negotiations in a tripartite format.
