Taiwan announced it had intercepted 47 Chinese military aircraft and 12 Chinese warships near its territory in the last 24 hours, reported France Press, quoted by BTA.
This activity comes a few days after Taiwanese President William Lai's tour of allied Pacific nations, during which he also transited through American territory, angering Beijing.
Taiwanese forces were put on high alert after China also imposed broad aviation restrictions off its east coast.
In response, Taiwan announced that it would begin exercises in preparation for combat operations.
Taiwan also warned that China's current military activities are not only directed against Taipei, but also against other countries in the region, Reuters reported, citing Taiwan's top intelligence officer Sieh Jingsheng.
