Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will raise the topics of Ukraine's invitation to NATO and security guarantees at a meeting with his European partners this month, officials in Kiev said today, quoted from Reuters, writes BTA.
Ukraine announced the meeting yesterday and said it would help forge a common position and ensure that Kiev would be in a strong position in any negotiations as well as on the battlefield.
„One of the issues on the agenda of such a meeting will certainly be the topic we are now discussing about an invitation to membership and obtaining security guarantees for Ukraine until its admission to NATO,” said the deputy chief of the office of the Ukrainian President Igor Zhovkva.
He indicated that military aid to Ukraine will also be discussed.
These issues were also raised at Zelensky's trilateral meeting with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron and with the next US president-elect Donald Trump over the weekend, the official added.
„It is quite clear that the question of Ukraine's membership in NATO is, unfortunately, unattainable for now. I mean as long as Russian aggression against Ukraine continues and until we win. And so today [...] we need appropriate guarantees for our security before joining NATO”, summed up Zhovkva.
