The Social Democratic and National Liberal Party, the Union for the Salvation of Romania, the Democratic Union of Hungarians and the parliamentary group of national minorities will form a coalition and want to support a common candidate in the presidential elections, BTA reported.
The formations "announce their firm commitment to the formation of a pro-European majority in the Romanian Parliament, a pro-European government and support for a possible common pro-European candidate," says the document distributed to the media.
In the coming days, the four parties and the representatives of the national minorities will work on a common management program based on development and reforms, which will take into account the priorities of the citizens of Romania, the press release says.
The parties have agreed to create a joint commission for the implementation of the management program and working groups for areas of activity. They also agreed that a concrete plan for efficiency and reduction of public expenditure and bureaucracy in the state administration is needed.
The formations also say that the current moment is decisive for Romania.
“A profound change is needed and the pro-European parties take this responsibility”, they state in the press release.
