A suicide note was found in the car of the man who drove into people at a Christmas market in the German city of Magdeburg, reports the German magazine Der Spiegel, reports Focus.

According to the information, the letter does not contain any political statements, but it states that the attacker, 50-year-old Taleb al-Abdulmohsen, apparently intended to die at the scene of the incident.

In May 2024, the suspect wrote on the social network X that he planned to die this year. This warning was also confirmed in private messages with other users of the platform.

The Magdeburg incident and the victims

On December 20, 2023, a car driven by the alleged attacker plowed into a crowd at a Christmas market in Magdeburg, Germany. The incident killed five people, including a 9-year-old child, and injured over 200 others. Police believe the attack was carried out by Taleb al-Abdulmohsen, a 50-year-old Saudi citizen.

According to the newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung, Taleb al-Abdulmohsen was recognized as a refugee in July 2016 and has a residence permit in Germany.
