Turkey's Foreign Minister discussed with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken on Monday the need to act in cooperation with the new Syrian administration to ensure Syria's stability and complete the transition period in an orderly manner, Reuters and Agence France-Presse reported, citing a ministry spokesman.
In a telephone conversation, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan told Blinken that Ankara would not allow the Kurdish People's Protection Forces (PKK) militia, which Ankara considers an offshoot of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), to hide in Syria, the ministry spokesman said.
Fidan stressed that the Syrian Kurdish fighters “cannot be accepted” in Syria.
