Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky took stock of Russian attacks against his country over the past seven days, pointing out that hundreds of drones, bombs and missiles were mainly directed against the country's energy infrastructure, DPA reported, quoted by BTA.
“In total, this week Russia has used more than 370 combat drones, about 280 guided bombs and 80 missiles of various types against Ukraine“, Zelensky wrote last night on “Facebook“. "Even on Christmas Eve, terrorists carried out a massive air strike," he added.
The Russian military's attacks were mainly aimed at Ukraine's energy infrastructure, Zelensky noted, adding that residential buildings were also attacked and damaged, apparently at random, with several people killed.
According to the British Ministry of Defense, Russia is using modified tactics in its missile strikes and drone attacks on Ukraine.
Now Russia has most likely decided to wait longer between attacks to build up supplies, the ministry wrote, and hopes that rarer but larger waves of attacks can cause more damage than more frequent, smaller ones, the department wrote in an article in “Ex“.
With these combined massive attacks, the Russian military aims to break the Ukrainian air defense, DPA reports. In addition to real combat drones, Russia also uses so-called decoy drones, which carry little or no explosives but force Ukrainian air defenses to expend valuable ammunition.
