The United States said today that it had struck Houthi military targets yesterday and today, in particular in Sanaa, the capital of Yemen, which is controlled by the Iranian-backed rebels, Agence France-Presse reported, quoted by BTA.
These strikes were aimed in particular at a “Houthi command and control facility“ and "production and storage facilities, including missiles and drones," the US Central Command for the Middle East (CENTCOM) said on the social network "Ex", adding that these facilities were used to attack US warships and commercial vessels in the region.
Houthi spokesman Mohammed Abdulsalam said after the US strikes that the group would continue to defend itself, Reuters reported.
The Iran-backed Yemeni group has been attacking commercial ships in the Red Sea for more than a year and is trying to impose a naval blockade on Israel in solidarity with the Palestinians in Gaza, Reuters noted.
