At least 11 people were killed in an airstrike that Israel carried out early this morning in the southern part of the Gaza Strip, DPA reported, quoted by BTA.
According to the Palestinian news agency WAFA, fighter jets hit a makeshift tent camp for displaced Palestinians in the area of the Am Mawasi humanitarian zone. WAFA also reported today about several people killed in Israeli attacks in various areas of Gaza.
So far, the information has not been confirmed by an independent source, DPA notes. The Israeli army said it would verify reports of the strike.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have repeatedly attacked the Am Mawasi humanitarian zone. They say the targets of their strikes are command centers of the Islamist group "Hamas". The IDF claims that it is fighting "Hamas" and that it is doing everything in its power to avoid civilian casualties in Gaza.
According to Palestinian figures, more than 45,500 people have been killed in the enclave since the start of the war. Israel launched its offensive in Gaza after Palestinian militants led by "Hamas" invaded Israel on October 7, 2023, killing about 1,200 people.
