One of the lawyers of the impeached president of South Korea - Yun Suk-yeol, announced today that the execution of the arrest warrant for the head of state is "invalid" and "illegal", the South Korean news agency Yonhap reported, quoted by BTA.

Employees of the Investigation Service for Combating Corruption at High Levels of Power arrived earlier today at Yun's residence with a warrant for his arrest. The investigators managed to enter the territory of the residence, but were blocked by military personnel from the security of the president removed by a parliamentary vote.

"The execution of an arrest warrant is illegal. "We will take legal action," the president's lawyer, Yeon Kap-gyun, told Yonhap.

"As the Constitutional Court is currently appealing the arrest warrant, it is invalid and we will challenge its execution," the lawyer added.

Following his failed attempt to impose martial law on December 3, the parliament voted to impeach Yoon, and the Constitutional Court has begun proceedings to make a final decision on whether the vote was constitutional.

Yoon has failed to appear for questioning by a joint investigation team consisting of representatives from the police, the High-Level Corruption Investigation Service and investigators from the Ministry of Defense.
