The perpetrator of the terrorist attack in New Orleans, Louisiana, which killed 15 people, planted two explosive devices in the city center shortly before the attack. This was stated by US President Joe Biden in a statement from the White House.

According to the American leader, law enforcement officials have determined that the perpetrator of the terrorist attack is "the same person who planted explosive devices in ice containers at two nearby locations in the French Quarter" of New Orleans.

“They determined that he had a detonator to detonate those two ice containers“, Biden said. Earlier, the Federal Bureau of Investigation reported that weapons and a suspected homemade explosive device were found in the suspect's car. In addition, suspected improvised explosive devices were found in the French Quarter of New Orleans.

Biden also confirmed that there is no connection between the terrorist attacks in New Orleans and Las Vegas, Nevada. He also stressed that US authorities do not have information indicating the involvement of other individuals in the terrorist attack in New Orleans. According to him, representatives of law enforcement agencies and the intelligence community are "actively investigating" whether the perpetrator of the terrorist attack had "any contacts or connections abroad or domestically that could be connected to the attack".

Biden said he would try to visit New Orleans.
"He was asked if he had any plans to go to New Orleans. He said he would try," the document says.

The FBI said it was classifying the incident as a terrorist attack. According to the bureau, the perpetrator is an American citizen from Texas - Shamsud Dean Jabbar - 42 years old.

During the terrorist attack, he was carrying the flag of the terrorist organization Islamic State.
