Sergey Ryabkov, Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia, said that under Donald Trump's administration there is a “small window of opportunity” to reach a peace agreement on the war in Ukraine, reports Focus.
Ryabkov explained that it is extremely important to analyze with whom and under what conditions Russia will have to negotiate to resolve the conflict, recalling the difficulty and hopelessness that characterized the period with the previous American president.
Window for negotiations under Trump
According to Ryabkov, if the new US leadership turns out to be more flexible and inclined to dialogue, this would open up opportunities for successful negotiations on Ukrainian issues and reduce the risks of escalation. He stressed that it is important for Russia to define its strategic actions and approach relations with Washington with clarity and in the context of current geopolitical realities.
Trump promises a quick resolution, but without specifics
For his part, former US President Donald Trump said that he could end the war in Ukraine quickly, but did not reveal details about how he plans to achieve this result. In addition, Trump indicated that he is likely to impose new sanctions on Russia if Vladimir Putin does not sit down for peace talks.
