Russian President Vladimir Putin is ready for dialogue with his American counterpart Donald Trump, and the Kremlin awaits the relevant signals from Washington. This was announced by the spokesman for the Russian head of state Dmitry Peskov, quoted by the Reuters and TASS agencies, BTA reports.
Donald Trump, in his statement, said that he was willing to meet with Putin to find a way to end the conflict in Ukraine. He also emphasized that he was planning efforts to reduce nuclear arsenals and expressed hope that Russia and China could join such an initiative.
“Putin is ready, we are waiting for signals, everyone is ready“, Peskov said. "If something happens, if there are developments, we will inform you immediately," he added.
The Kremlin spokesman stressed that, according to Russia, the war in Ukraine is a matter of national security, related to the protection of Russian citizens, threats to them and the lack of reaction from the United States and Europe to Moscow's concerns.
For his part, Trump indicated that he would insist that Saudi Arabia and OPEC cooperate in reducing the price of oil, an issue that, in his words, is directly related to international crises.
However, Western observers and Kiev categorically reject the Kremlin's position, calling Russia's actions an attempt at imperial conquest of territories in Ukraine.
