US President Donald Trump said he had discussed with Jordan's King Abdullah II the possibility of resettling Palestinians from Gaza to neighboring countries, Reuters reported, citing a White House statement.

During the call, Trump said Jordan and Egypt should take more Palestinians from Gaza, where Israel's war with Hamas has led to a humanitarian crisis.

“Right now, I see the whole of Gaza in complete disarray, a complete mess,“ he said.

Trump had earlier said his administration would continue to promote the idea of "peace through strength" in the Middle East after a ceasefire agreement was reached in the Gaza Strip.

Meanwhile, Palestinian prisoners released from Israeli prisons on Saturday and taken to Egypt arrived in Cairo, where they were greeted by Hamas leaders and relatives.

Photos posted on the organization's Telegram channel show the chairman of the Shura Council (Hamas's advisory body) Mohammed Darwish congratulating the prisoners on their release.

It was previously reported that a high-ranking delegation from Hamas's ally Islamic Jihad would also arrive in Cairo, whose members also planned to meet with those released from Israeli prisons and expelled from the Palestinian territories.

It is not yet known whether all of these prisoners will remain in Egypt or will subsequently be deported to third countries.

A day ago, the Al Hadath, citing a source in the Palestinian Fatah movement, reported that Algeria, Tunisia and Turkey are ready to accept released prisoners.

Al Arabiya reported that Israel is negotiating with mediators to expel prominent Palestinian figures from the Gaza Strip, including Mohammed, the younger brother of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, who was killed in October 2024, and several prisoners who are scheduled to be released as part of the agreement.
