The Russian armed forces have established control over the village of Velika Novoselka in the so-called DPR, the Russian Defense Ministry reports, Izvestia, quoted by FOKUS.
"As a result of the active offensive actions of the units of the 5th Guards Separate Tank Brigade of the 36th Army and the 40th Guards Marine Brigade of the "Vostok" Group of Forces, the village of Velika Novoselka in the Donetsk People's Republic was liberated," the Russian ministry reports.
Velika Novoselka is an urban-type settlement on the border between Donetsk and Zaporizhia regions. It is the last main line of defense and logistics center of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the southern Donetsk direction. The capture of Velika Novosilka "makes it possible to secure the southwestern borders of the Donetsk People's Republic," the statement added.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, over the past 24 hours, fighters from the "Vostok" group have continued to advance deep into the defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and have inflicted damage on units of five Ukrainian brigades.
In these battles, the Armed Forces of Ukraine lost about 150 servicemen, a tank, an armored combat vehicle, three vehicles, and four field artillery installations, one of which was manufactured in NATO.
