Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen announced that political leaders in Europe and around the world express their strong support for respecting international borders. The statement was made after her meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.
“The message from our partners in Northern Europe, Europe and beyond is clear – territorial sovereignty and borders of states must be respected. This is a fundamental principle of the international community that we have been building since World War II“, Frederiksen said in an interview with Danish television channel TV2.
Her comments come against the backdrop of statements by US President Donald Trump, who has expressed interest in acquiring Greenland – semi-autonomous territory under Danish control.
Frederiksen stressed the importance of unity in international relations, noting that respect for territorial integrity is a key pillar for maintaining stability and security in the global order.
With that, the Danish Prime Minister once again confirmed Europe's position in upholding the right of peoples to determine their future without external interference.
