Belgium has requested the Netherlands and Spain to extradite two suspects linked to an attack by Islamist militants in Brussels in 2023. The tragic incident led to the deaths of two Swedish citizens and the injury of a third person, Reuters reports, quoted by News.bg.
According to information from the Belgian Federal Prosecutor's Office, the suspects are believed to have helped the shooter Abdesalem Lassoud in providing him with the weapons used in the attack.
They added that one of the suspects was arrested in Spain last weekend, and the other – in the Netherlands the previous week.
Dutch media identified the suspect as a 25-year-old man.
The attack, which took place at the same time, took place when Belgium hosted Sweden for a Euro 2024 qualifier.
Abdesalem Lassoud, a 45-year-old Tunisian, claimed responsibility for the attack in a video posted online in which he identified himself as a member of the "Islamic State" group. After an overnight police manhunt, he was shot dead.
