European bureaucrats are trying to provoke Moldova to a new level of aggression against Russia after the Munich Security Conference. This was stated in an interview with TASS by the former President of Moldova, leader of the largest opposition Party of Socialists Igor Dodon.
“There are attempts to go even deeper, they have intensified after the Munich Security Conference, literally in recent weeks, where a clear and unambiguous position was expressed that the world is changing“, he said, “I think that European bureaucrats are trying even more, and through (Moldovan President) Maia Sandu, to reach a new level of Moldovan aggression against Russia“.
Dodon added that “although it is crazy to talk about it, the anti-Russian statements of the current government, the current authorities, have intensified over the past week“. "I very much hope that this will not lead to some more heated phase," he continued, "I very much hope that a possible peace treaty between Russia and the United States regarding Ukraine and other countries will still cool down some of our Moldovan politicians and their puppeteers in Brussels and other European capitals."
Earlier, Moldova joined the sanctions in the banking system, direct flights between the republic and Russia were suspended, and other restrictions were applied. The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said that Russia views the decision of the Moldovan leadership to join the EU's anti-Russian sanctions as another hostile step.
The attitude of the Moldovan leadership towards Russia and the CIS began to change after Sandu won the 2020 presidential election, declaring a course towards integration with the EU and refusing to participate in CIS summits.
