The US armed forces have carried out a series of airstrikes on Houthi positions in western Yemen, Al Arabiya television channel reported, citing sources.
Washington forces attacked weapons warehouses and barracks in the city of Barakish in Al Jawf province. In addition, the US military carried out at least five strikes on rebel military warehouses in Marib province.
Earlier on Saturday, the Houthi-controlled Al Masirah television channel reported that the US had carried out three strikes on the international airport in the western city of Hodeidah. According to Al Hadath television channel, the strikes targeted weapons warehouses used by the rebels, as well as missile launchers and drones located at the airport. The US also attacked the Ansar Allah naval base in Hodeidah. The shelling wounded Houthi naval commander Mansour al-Saadi and seven other rebels.
On March 15, the United States, under the order of President Donald Trump, began carrying out massive airstrikes against Houthi targets, who control about a third of Yemen. The operation is aimed at protecting American interests and ensuring freedom of navigation, the US Central Command said. According to the Houthi government's health ministry, 53 people were killed in the strikes.
In response, the rebels launched a series of attacks on the US aircraft carrier USS Harry Truman in the northern Red Sea, using missiles and drones. There was no report of damage to the ship as a result of the strikes.
