Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that yesterday's talks between US and Russian representatives in Saudi Arabia focused on the safety of shipping in the Black Sea and that a new agreement on the issue was possible, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.
Lavrov stressed that any new agreement must include strict conditions.
He specified that Russia is insisting on inspections of ships to ensure that empty vessels are not used to deliver weapons.
The Russian foreign minister added that obstacles to the export of Russian grain and fertilizers have been a serious problem in the past and remain an important topic in the negotiations.
