US Vice President J.D. Vance, White House Chief of Staff and Chief of Staff Susie Wiles and Sergio Gore suggested that US leader Donald Trump fire National Security Advisor Mike Walz after the chat scandal over the strikes in Yemen, the newspaper "Politico" reported, citing its sources.
According to the media outlet, high-ranking officials suggested in a private meeting that the advisor be “shown the door“, the journalist added to the correspondence.
The chat scandal put the White House in an awkward position. The head of state agreed that Walz had "screwed up", but decided not to fire him. As one of the sources explained to the publication, the administration will probably wait for a convenient moment and in a few weeks the adviser will resign.
Waltz said earlier that Goldberg entered a secret chat at the White House using someone else's phone number. He added that the journalist's number was not in his contact list and emphasized that he "somehow got into someone's contacts and then was drawn into this group".
