India has banned the import of goods originating in or transiting through Pakistan, reports "Reuters", quoted by news.bg.
Diplomatic tensions between the two nuclear-armed countries flared up after a deadly attack on tourists in the disputed region of Kashmir.
India's Directorate General of Foreign Trade said that the ban would come into effect immediately.
"This restriction is imposed in the interest of national security and public policy," the directorate said.
Last week, militants killed at least 26 tourists in an attack on a mountain destination in the Pahalgam area of the Jammu and Kashmir valley. Kashmir.
The Muslim-majority Himalayan region is claimed by both India and Pakistan. It has been the site of numerous wars, insurgencies and diplomatic standoffs.
