The Armed Forces of Ukraine (UAV) will take part in a military parade dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day - an event that marks the end of World War II on the continent, UNIAN reports, Focus reports.
Ukrainian servicemen will join about 1,000 British servicemen, including cavalry and military bands. The aim is to symbolize “worldwide support for their long struggle for freedom“ against Russian aggression, a government statement quoted by Reuters said.
“In the midst of the first full-scale war in Europe since World War II, it is only fitting that the Armed Forces of Ukraine, currently fighting on the front lines of freedom, should be represented at Monday's event,“ said Defence Secretary John Healy.
The UK is planning a series of events to mark the anniversary, including a military parade, an air show and a thanksgiving service to be held at Westminster Abbey in London on Thursday. The royal family is expected to attend the ceremony.
