Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Kiev cannot guarantee the safety of world leaders who will attend the Victory Day celebrations in Moscow on May 9, News.bg reports.

“Our position is very simple towards representatives of all countries who have traveled or intend to travel to Russia on May 9 - we cannot take responsibility for what is happening on the territory of the Russian Federation. They (the Russian authorities) are responsible for your safety“, said Zelensky, quoted by “Agence France-Presse“.

The Kremlin announced that “significant“ A number of heads of state will take part in the military parade in Moscow, including Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Shortly after Zelensky's statement, Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev responded with threats. In a post on Telegram, he hinted that "there is no guarantee that May 10 will come to Kiev" if there is a "real provocation on Victory Day."

"The green, unshaven freak said he rejected Putin's proposal for a three-day truce around May 9 and could not guarantee the safety of world leaders in Moscow. And who is looking for his assurances anyway? Just a verbal provocation. Nothing more," Medvedev wrote.
