Ankara denies granting permission for Netanyahu's plane to fly over - 1

Turkish Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Yoncu Keçeli said today that claims that Turkey granted permission for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's plane to fly through its airspace are unfounded, Anadolu Agency reported, BTA reports.

“The claims that permission was granted for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's plane to fly through Turkish airspace are absolutely false. Such a request was not made to us either“, Keçeli said.

A few days ago, a number of media outlets, including "Azerbaijan 24", reported that Netanyahu is expected to travel to Azerbaijan on a government plane on May 7. According to the publications, the flight would take place "after Turkey grants permission for transit through its airspace".

During his visit to Baku, scheduled for May 7-11, Netanyahu is expected to hold high-level meetings aimed at deepening Israeli-Azerbaijani relations. On May 8, the prime minister will meet with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. The main topics of the talks will be cooperation in the areas of defense, energy, trade and regional security.
