Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban expressed support for the co-chair of the German party "Alternative for Germany" (AfD) Alice Weidel in connection with the decision of the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution to classify the political force as a right-wing extremist organization.
"What the hell is going on in Germany? You can count on us," Orban wrote on X, tagging Weidel's account in the post.
On Friday, the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution classified "Alternative for Germany" as a right-wing extremist organization whose ideology is incompatible with democratic freedoms.
The decision opens the possibility for the authorities to spy on party members, including tapping their phones.

The party could become the third political force in German history to be banned, after the Socialist Reich Party, which unites former Nazis, in 1952 and the Communist Party of Germany in 1956.
