Russia and China are fighting to preserve the historical memory of the heroic deeds of their peoples in World War II, while the West is striving to rewrite history in order to completely change the world, said the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.
The diplomat noted that of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council, only Russia and China are fighting to preserve the historical truth about World War II, while the other countries, even those that were part of the anti-Hitler coalition, “have either forgotten everything or want Russia and China to forget everything“.
“Which of them is actually fighting for historical memory? Because three countries - the USA, France and Great Britain - are fighting for the exact opposite, to rewrite this history“, Zakharova noted.
She pointed out that every year there are fewer and fewer veterans who survived the siege and witnessed the terrible events of World War II, and “Westerners want to take advantage of this moment“ to forget the results of the war. “And then, when there are no living witnesses left, not a single one, they intend to completely rewrite history, completely reject the results of Nuremberg, completely destroy monuments on the territory of their countries, completely redraw the world.“ Zakharova emphasized.
According to the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, the result of such actions will be a return “to the times of imperialism, colonialism, but simply at a new level“. “And this, unfortunately, is not a new high, but a new low“, concluded Zakharova.
