It is Russia's turn to take the next step in peace talks with Ukraine, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said today, quoted by Reuters, BTA reported.
Ukraine is ready for a ceasefire and immediate negotiations, Rutte added in the Turkish resort city of Antalya, where the informal meeting of foreign ministers from NATO member states continues today.
"Now it is Russia's turn to ensure that it will take the next necessary steps," Rutte said.
The start of direct Russia-Ukraine talks is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. today in the Turkish metropolis of Istanbul.
Latvian Foreign Minister Baiba Braže said in turn in Antalya today that there are no signs that Russia wants peace in Ukraine and that it is important to weaken Moscow's military capabilities.
"Weakening Moscow's military capabilities is the most direct and cheapest way (...) to achieve peace in Ukraine," Braže told media representatives before today's meeting in Antalya.
