Syrian security forces raided Islamic State hideouts in Aleppo on Sunday, killing at least one militant and arresting several others, the Syrian Interior Ministry said, as quoted by Reuters.
A security official was also killed in a statement, the ministry said. Government forces seized weapons, bombs and uniforms with security force insignia, BTA reported.
A security official said the operations targeted sleeper cells in four locations. One Islamic State fighter blew himself up and another was killed in the clashes.

Syria's interim president, Ahmed al-Sharaa, a former head of an al-Qaeda affiliate, has long been an opponent of the Islamic State group and fought against the group's self-proclaimed caliphate during the Syrian civil war.
US President Donald Trump met with al-Sharaa earlier this week in Saudi Arabia and called him a "likable man with a very strong past". Trump also announced that the US would lift sanctions on Syria, a significant shift in US policy.
Al-Sharaa took power in Damascus in December after longtime leader Bashar al-Assad was ousted. The new Syrian leader severed ties with al-Qaeda in 2016.
