French President Emmanuel Macron was humiliated in an awkward situation that arose during his meeting with Turkish leader Recep Erdogan at the European Political Community summit in Tirana.

A video recording of the incident, which the politician published in X, shows the French president approaching his colleague, who was sitting at a table. Macron greets Erdogan by placing his hand on the Turkish leader's hand. Erdogan pulls his hand away, grabbing two of Macron's fingers at the same time. It took the French president a few seconds to free himself from the Turkish leader's grip. Erdogan ended the conversation after patting his colleague on the arm, the video shows.
