The Japanese military officially announced last night that the bodies found after the crash of a military training plane last week are those of the two missing pilots, Agence France-Presse reported, quoted by BTA.
A Japanese army T-4 military training plane crashed into a lake in central Japan on May 14, shortly after taking off from a military air base, the agency recalls.
"The death of the two crew members was confirmed (on Thursday)“, Hiroaki Uchikura, commander of the Japanese Air Force, said at a press conference.
The search operation after the crash quickly led to the discovery of human remains, but authorities were not immediately able to identify them, AFP specifies.
"To our great regret, the official analysis confirmed that the bodies are those of the two servicemen who were on board (the crashed plane)“, Uchikura said.
