Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has accused British Prime Minister Keir Starmer of "encouraging 'Hamas" after Starmer joined the leaders of France and Canada in calling for an end to Israel's military offensive in the Gaza Strip and the lifting of restrictions on humanitarian aid, PA Media and DPA reported, quoted by BTA.
Earlier this week, Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney sharply criticized the Israeli government's actions in Gaza, describing them as "sinister" and warned that Britain and its allies could take "concrete measures" actions“ if Israel does not change its course.
In a statement on the social network X (formerly Twitter) yesterday evening, Netanyahu said that “Hamas“ seeks to “destroy the Jewish state“ and is a threat to the Jewish people. “I could never understand how this simple truth escapes the leaders of France, Britain, Canada and others“, he wrote.
“I say to President Macron, Prime Minister Carney and Prime Minister Starmer: when mass murderers, rapists, infanticide and kidnappers thank you, you are on the wrong side of justice“, Netanyahu added.
He stressed that the demands for sanctions were directed against Israel, not “Hamas“, and accused the three leaders of effectively wanting the terrorist group to remain on power.
“This is not progress towards peace. This is encouragement for 'Hamas' to fight forever“, concluded the Israeli prime minister.
