At least 76 people have been killed and over 200 injured in Israeli strikes on the Gaza Strip in the last 24 hours, the Qatari television channel Al Jazeera reported.

According to him, the Israeli army hit a house in Khan Yunis, which resulted in the death of seven children. A residential building in Jabaliya was also attacked, and a search for survivors under the rubble is still underway.

The Israeli authorities intend to implement the US proposal to reform the system for providing aid to the strip Gaza, which includes the withdrawal of the services of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) in favor of private companies and military contractors.

A non-governmental organization has already been established in Geneva for this purpose - the Gaza Humanitarian Fund (GHF), reports the Swissinfo portal.

According to it, the American plan envisages the creation of humanitarian centers in the southern part of the Palestinian enclave, which will be managed and guarded by private companies and military contractors, most likely American. Initially, four supply points were planned, each of which will provide 300,000 Gazans with access to food, water and other essentials.

“This would essentially bypass the reliable humanitarian aid delivery system established and maintained by UNRWA for decades,“ the portal writes.

On May 12, the Permanent Mission of Israel reported to the UN in Geneva that the Jewish state's authorities had collected and provided the world organization with evidence that at least 25% of UNRWA employees are members of the radical Palestinian organization Hamas. According to the Israeli side, the UN is ignoring these warnings and actively covering up the terrorist affiliation of UNRWA employees.

On May 19, the UN confirmed that the Israeli authorities had allowed the organization to resume deliveries of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, noting that permission had been granted for nine trucks to enter the enclave. At the same time, the press center of the Palestinian enclave's government said that in order to meet the most basic needs of its residents, about 500 trucks with humanitarian aid should arrive in the Gaza Strip every day.

On May 18, Israel announced the start of expanded military operations in the northern and southern regions of the enclave as part of a new large-scale ground operation "Chariots of Gideon“.
